What you will learn

Everything the driving test asks for

Lessons build up step by step, from the controls of the car to driving on your own.

  • The car and moving off

Getting comfortable with the controls and mirrors, then moving off and stopping safely.

  • Junctions and roundabouts

Approaching, emerging and turning at junctions, crossroads and roundabouts.

  • Sharing the road

Meeting other traffic, pedestrian crossings and spotting hazards early.

  • Faster roads

Main roads and dual carriageways: joining, keeping pace and changing lanes.

  • Manoeuvres

Parallel parking, parking in a bay and pulling up on the right, as used in the test.

  • Ready for the test

Independent driving with a sat nav or road signs, the emergency stop and the “show me, tell me” questions.

Why automatic

Less to juggle, more time to learn

In an automatic the car looks after the gears. That leaves you free to concentrate on what is happening around you.

Good to know: if you pass your test in an automatic, your licence covers automatic cars only. You can take a manual test later if you want to drive manual cars as well.

  • Easier starts

Pulling away at junctions, in queues and on hills is simpler, which takes a lot of pressure off the early lessons.

  • Calmer in traffic

Stop-start traffic is far less tiring when you are not changing gear every few seconds.

  • Ready for electric

Electric cars and most hybrids are automatic, so what you learn carries straight over to them.

Questions

What learners ask before they start

Something else on your mind? Message Seyma on WhatsApp.

Do I need a licence before my first lesson?

Yes. You need a provisional driving licence before you can drive on public roads. You can apply on GOV.UK once you are 15 years and 9 months old, and start driving a car when you are 17.

Can I start lessons before I pass my theory test?

Yes. You can take lessons while you study for it. You need to pass the theory test before you can book your practical test.

Is the driving test different in an automatic?

No. The practical test is the same. You simply take it in an automatic car.

If I pass in an automatic, can I drive a manual car?

Not on that licence. An automatic licence covers automatic cars only. If you want to drive manual cars later, you can take a manual test to upgrade.

How many lessons will I need?

Everyone is different. It depends on your experience and on how much practice you get between lessons. Message Seyma to talk through where you are now.

How much do lessons cost?

Lessons are £45 per hour. Send a WhatsApp message to check availability.

Will Seyma pick me up?

Yes. She collects you from home, work, school or college and drops you back at the end of the lesson.

Can I have my lessons in Turkish?

Yes. Seyma teaches in English or Turkish. Dersler Türkçe de yapılır.

Which test centres do you cover?

Chingford, Loughton and Wanstead.

What if my call is not answered?

Seyma is probably in a lesson. Send her a message and she will get back to you.
